Join the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) for a webinar discussing “Building a Future Free of FTD: AFTD’s Mission in a Changing World” on Thursday, May 7, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. EDT (1:00 p.m. PDT).

This one-hour webinar, which is the last in the AFTD Education Conference: Webinar Series, will feature Susan L-J Dickinson, MSGC, AFTD’s CEO, and David Pfeifer, who became the new AFTD Board Chair last month. Mr. Pfeifer will share personal reflections on the FTD journey. He and Ms. Dickson will also share highlights of AFTD’s work over the past year, share its vision for the future, and offer an update on the organization’s response to support families facing FTD during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ms. Dickinson, AFTD’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), joined the FTD advocacy organization in February 2008. A certified genetic counselor, she has more than two decades of experience facilitating communications among lay, scientific, and medical communities. She holds an M.S. in genetic counseling from Arcadia University and a B.A. in biology and psychology from Swarthmore College.

In addition to his AFTD responsibilities, Mr. Pfeifer is the president at Anderson Mason Dale Architects in Denver. In his 25 years as a partner with the firm, he has led teams designing a diverse array of projects with an emphasis on university and college science and research facilities, some of which have won awards for outstanding design. His wife, Cathy, was diagnosed with FTD in 2014 and passed away in December 2016. Their children were 17, 15,  and 13 at the time. A host and collaborator in multiple Denver AFTD events, as well as the Hope Rising Benefit and other national efforts, Mr. Pfeifer brings a passion for finding treatments and a cure before FTD can affect another generation.

The AFTD has been offering webinars reflecting material originally developed for its 2020 AFTD Education Conference, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Webinars in the AFTD 2020 Education Conference Webinar Series are free and benefit anyone currently managing FTD, whether they have been diagnosed themselves, are a care partner to a person diagnosed, or work as a healthcare professional. Every webinar will be recorded and posted to the AFTD website.

The webinar series has been made available by several sponsors, including AlectorBiogenIonisBuffalo Trace DistilleryArden Courts Memory Care Community, and Passage Bio.

If you are unable to attend a live presentation, all webinars will be recorded and archived on the AFTD website within one week of broadcast.
