CurePSP will host an Education Day focusing on Parkinson’s Disease and Atypical Parkinsonisms with sessions for patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals on Thursday, April 11, 2019, in the Cardinal Ballroom at The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen, Virginia. The Patient and Caregiver program will focus on PD and Atypical Parkinsonisms while the Healthcare Professionals portion will focus on Atypical Parkinsonisms and Other Prime of Life Diseases.

PATIENT & CAREGIVER EDUCATION DAY

The patient and caregiver program will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $10, and refunds are available up to 1 day before the event.

This program is designed to connect patients and family members to a variety of movement disorders providers including physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists. Diagnosis and symptom management, rehabilitation strategies, mood and emotions, and available programs and resources will be discussed. Attendees will feel more empowered to advocate for their medical, rehabilitation, and emotional needs after this program. They will also receive practical tools that will help them formulate a plan for their healthcare journey.

HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS EDUCATION DAY

The healthcare professionals training will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Cost is free.

This program offers interactive sessions designed to give an overview on and inform about PD, PSP, CBD, MSA, and other neurodegenerative diseases. It will also cover more about the multidisciplinary team approach to treating these diseases.There is a question and answer session, and attendees should come prepared with inquiries.

Physical and occupational therapists attending will receive CEUs and speech language pathologists will receive a verification of attendance. Certification maintenance hours are available for all others.
