AFTD Partners with ‘Remember Me’ for With Love 2021
This February The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration is marking the 10th anniversary of its With Love campaign.
This February The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration is marking the 10th anniversary of its With Love campaign. To celebrate, AFTD is partnering with the “Remember Me” podcast to create special episodes as people honor or remember a loved one who has frontotemporal degeneration (FTD).
The podcast will release special With Love-themed episodes each Monday in February. “Remember Me” is available on all major podcasting platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Spotify, and more. Learn more about the podcast on their website and how you can share your own story of love.
“Remember Me” was created by Maria Kent Beers and Rachael Martinez (both children of a parent who had FTD). It features stories of FTD with a focus on remembering individuals for who they were before the disease.
In a preview episode aired last week, the podcast hosts spoke with AFTD CEO Susan Dickenson about the With Love campaign as well as AFTD’s history, mission, advancements in FTD research, and community resources.
“The initial concept when we started [With Love] was to create a space for people to honor their loved ones who they either had lost, or were in the process of losing, to this disease,” Dickinson said during the episode. “We will help disseminate and share your story with family, friends, and the public to encourage people to donate to the mission to help change the stories of the future.”
With Love Campaign
The month-long With Love campaign was inspired by the day of love — Valentine’s Day. During the past nine years, it has raised more than $500,000 to fight FTD.
People affected by FTD can participate in multiple ways, including by writing a poem, posting pictures, making a video, singing a song, or just jotting down their personal story of how love has helped them navigate an FTD journey. They also can create fundraising platforms and purchase Kendra Scott jewelry.
With Love also allows people to create online fundraisers and share their story of love with supporters to raise funds and spread FTD awareness. Everyone is welcome to participate — family, friends, care partners, and persons diagnosed.
In addition to the “Remember Me” weekly podcasts, the WIth Love campaign offers other ways to participate, including the following:
Create a fundraising page and personalize it with your story through text, pictures, and videos. Share your story with family, friends, and colleagues directly from your page with quick buttons linking to social media accounts and email.
Start a fundraiser and share it with your friends. Designate in the title of your fundraiser that it is for “With Love 2021″ and the funds you raise will go directly to AFTD for the campaign.
