The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) will host an “Ask the Expert: FTD and COVID-19” webinar on Friday, April 24, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. EDT (10:30 a.m. PDT). This one-hour webinar will focus on advances in frontotemporal dementia (FTD) care and the impact of the current COVID-19 pandemic on people with FTD and their families….

The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) will host an “Ask the Expert: FTD and COVID-19” webinar on Friday, April 24, 2020, at 1:30 p.m. EDT (10:30 a.m. PDT).

This one-hour webinar will focus on advances in frontotemporal dementia (FTD) care and the impact of the current COVID-19 pandemic on people with FTD and their families.

This event allows for up to 500 attendees. Pre-registration is required and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

AFTD’s CEO Susan L-J Dickinson will speak with Bruce Miller, M.D., director of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Memory and Aging Center. Dr. Miller will present the latest information on FTD research, share findings from ongoing longitudinal studies, and give the reasons for the hope he sees in clinical trials. The webinar will close with a Q&A section.

Dr. Miller holds the A.W. and Mary Margaret Clausen Distinguished Professorship in Neurology at UCSF, directs the UCSF Memory and Aging Center, and is a director of the Global Brain Health Institute. He is the principal investigator of the NIH-sponsored Alzheimer’s Disease Research Centers and program project grant on FTD. In addition, Dr. Miller helps lead the Tau Consortium and The Bluefield Project, precision medicine collaborations focused on developing treatments for tauopathies and progranulin-mediated forms of frontotemporal degeneration.

Ms. Dickinson, AFTD’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), joined the FTD advocacy organization in February 2008. A certified genetic counselor, she has more than two decades of experience facilitating communications among lay, scientific, and medical communities. She holds an M.S. in genetic counseling from Arcadia University and a B.A. in biology and psychology from Swarthmore College.

Webinars in the AFTD's 2020 Education Conference: Webinar Series are free and benefit anyone currently managing FTD, whether they have been diagnosed themselves, are a care partner to a person diagnosed, or work as a healthcare professional. Every webinar will be recorded and posted to the AFTD website.
