Due to the coronavirus outbreak, AFTD has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Education Conference, which includes all events for April 16 and 17.

Over the past several weeks, AFTD has closely monitored the status of the novel coronavirus Covid-19.  The decision was made placing the safety and well-being of all conference attendees and participants at the forefront.  More information can be found on the AFTD website concerning refunds, future events, and potential virtual presentations.

You are invited to hear the latest research information, collect resources, and connect with others who understand the FTD journey at the 2020 AFTD Education Conference on Friday, April 17 in Baltimore, MD.

Registration is now open for the AFTD’s annual education event, which will be at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel. This conference has sessions scheduled from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is followed by a social reception. All attendees are invited to all events.

Each year, AFTD brings together people living with FTD, their care partners and families, researchers, and healthcare professionals to learn about the latest in FTD research, care, and support strategies, and to engage further with the AFTD community.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER

Rome Hartman, a producer of CBS newsmagazine “60 Minutes,” will be this year’s keynote speaker. In May 2019, Mr. Hartman co-produced a segment on FTD for “60 Minutes” that brought FTD awareness to millions of national television viewers.

At AFTD’s 2019 Hope Rising Benefit in October in New York City, Mr. Hartman spoke about what he learned from the segment. FTD “is often very confusing and frightening, both for people living with [the disease] and for caregivers, because a timely and accurate diagnosis is still so elusive for so many,” he said. “And — perhaps most striking to me — people coping with FTD display remarkable courage and determination.”
