FTD awareness was the focus of an interview by Matt Lauer on NBC’s TODAY SHOW to kick off World FTD Awareness Week. Donald Newhouse, president of Advance Publications, shared his family’s story; he lost his wife, Suzy, to the primary progressive aphasia form of FTD in August 2015, and his brother, Si, is struggling with FTD as well. Dr. Ted Huey, an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at Columbia University Medical Center, explained that while Alzheimer’s disease affects an older population and memory, FTD typically manifests between ages 55 and 65 and impacts behavior, personality, language and movement.
