Louder Than Words: CurePSP Helps People Preserve Their Voice
CurePSP’s Louder Than Words program provides free voice banking and AI voice cloning tools for people living with PSP, CBD, and MSA, helping individuals preserve their voice and stay connected with loved ones even if speech becomes difficult.
For many people living with neurological diseases, changes in speech and communication can be among the most challenging symptoms. The ability to speak, share thoughts, and express emotions is deeply tied to identity and connection with others.
To help address this challenge, CurePSP has launched the Louder Than Words voice program, a partnership with ElevenLabs that provides free voice banking and AI voice cloning tools for people living with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), and multiple system atrophy (MSA).
The program is designed to help individuals record and preserve their voice so that they can continue communicating in a way that sounds like them.
What the Louder Than Words Program Provides
Through Louder Than Words, eligible participants can create a digital version of their voice that can be used with assistive communication tools if speech becomes difficult over time.
Participants record samples of their voice, which are used to create a personalized digital voice. This voice can then generate new words and phrases, allowing individuals to continue communicating using a voice that reflects their own tone and identity rather than a generic computer voice.
The program is offered free of charge through the ElevenLabs Impact Program, which partners with nonprofit organizations to expand access to communication tools for people living with neurological conditions.
Why Voice Preservation Matters
For many families, maintaining a familiar voice can help preserve a sense of connection and self.
“Many people with PSP, CBD and MSA experience changes to their speech and communication as part of their disease. This change in connection can feel distressing and isolating. But through the Louder Than Words voice program, people with these diagnoses can stay connected to their loved ones and the world around them. CurePSP is grateful to be partnering with the ElevenLabs Impact Program to make this possible.” — Courtney Malburg, Associate Director of Education at CurePSP
Programs like Louder Than Words can help individuals continue to share stories, express needs, and participate in conversations with family and friends.
A Growing Focus on Communication Support
Communication changes affect many neurological conditions. As organizations and researchers continue to explore ways to support individuals living with these diseases, programs that help people maintain their voice and communication abilities are becoming an important part of care and support.
Initiatives like Louder Than Words highlight the importance of preserving not just speech, but the personal connections that voice makes possible. Visit CurePSP to learn more and apply.
