CurePSP is hosting SYNAPSE21 on June 16, 2021. This is an opportunity to support and learn about brain banks. The virtual 90-minute event, which begins at 7:00 p.m. Eastern (4:00 Pacific), will include a discussion of how brain donations impact research.
Brain donations are a vital resource, representing the ultimate gift for science. They are needed to help develop future cures and treatments for all neurodegenerative disorders, including frontotemporal degeneration (FTD).
Featured speakers will be:
- Kristophe Diaz, Ph.D., CurePSP
- Dennis Dickson, M.D., Mayo Clinic
- Aimee Kao, M.D., University of California, San Francisco
- Amy Rommel Ph.D., Rainwater Charitable Foundation
This fundraising event specifically supports the CurePSP brain donation program, which operates in collaboration with the Mayo Clinic Brain Bank in Jacksonville, Florida. The brain bank provides investigators with tissue samples that are essential for their research.
Brain donations also provide a postmortem confirmation of the clinical diagnosis to the families of persons who have been diagnosed with PSP and other FTD disorders.
Donations to this fund allow CurePSP to reimburse families for the costs of brain donation, which for many might be impossible to do without the program.
CurePSP has a Brain Tissue Donation Program brochure available online that offers additional information.
General admission tickets for the SYNAPSE21 event are $20. There also are VIP tickets for $100. For more information, call 646-343-9662 ext. 812 or email events@curepsp.org.
