“Building a Toolbox for FTD” care is the focus of a webinar being presented by the Very Rev. Tracey Lind, retired dean of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Cleveland, OH, on Thursday, April 30, 2020, at 4:00 p.m. EDT (1:00 p.m. PDT).
This one-hour Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) webinar will focus on an aspect of care made even more significant by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A powerful public speaker for dementia awareness since her 2016 FTD diagnosis, the Very Rev. Lind offers an important perspective that will help to center the conversation on building a person-centered care plan that promotes the dignity, respect, and personhood of those living with dementia at every stage.
Watch a recording of the webinar below.
The Very Rev. Tracey Lind is a retired Episcopal priest, author, and city planner whose ministry has included work for social and environmental justice, interfaith relations, sustainable urban development, arts, culture, and progressive theology. On Election Day 2016, she was diagnosed with primary progressive aphasia, prompting her unexpected retirement as Dean of Trinity Cathedral in Cleveland, Ohio.
While life has changed dramatically, the diagnosis hasn’t stopped her from fully immersing in what life has to offer — and what she has to give. She is also a board member for the Episcopal Church Pension Fund and Judson Services Foundation. For more than two years, she has traveled with her spouse and care partner Emily throughout the United States and Europe, sharing insights gained from a life complicated by dementia.
In addition to preaching and teaching about dementia, The Very Rev. Lind serves on the AFTD Think Tank and was the keynote speaker at AFTD’s 2018 Education Conference. Visit her online at traceylind.com.
Throughout April, AFTD is offering webinars reflecting material originally developed for its 2020 AFTD Education Conference, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Webinars in the AFTD's 2020 Education Conference: Webinar Series are free and benefit anyone currently managing FTD, whether they have been diagnosed themselves, are a care partner to a person diagnosed, or work as a healthcare professional. Every webinar will be recorded and posted to the AFTD website.
The webinar series has been made available by several sponsors, including Alector, Biogen, Ionis, Buffalo Trace Distillery, Arden Courts Memory Care Community, Passage Bio, Bernhard Metzger, and Broadmead Center of Excellence Dementia Care.
