CurePSP is sponsoring a free online webinar on “Self-Compassion for Caregivers” on Thursday, November 7, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. EDT. Janet Edmunson, M.Ed., will share new research and information about how caregivers can give themselves self-compassion.

This webinar is for family and professional caregivers. It will be approximately 30-40 minutes long. In case you cannot attend the webinar live, a recording will be shared with those who register.

While caregivers are usually excellent at providing care for their loved ones, they often are not as good at making the time to take care of themselves. This includes not taking breaks in their everyday routines. When others make a mistake, caregivers tend to be more forgiving. But when they feel they are not performing to their “ideal” standard for caregiving, they tend to be harder on themselves and find it difficult to accept their own mistakes.

Janet Edmunson, president of JME Insight, is a trainer, motivational speaker, writer, and health promotion professional who is dedicated to using her life experiences and inner values to support the growth and self-esteem of the people her life touches.

Janet was the primary caregiver of her husband, Charles, for five years when he was fighting a degenerative neurological disease. During that time, she helped Charles write his book “Paradoxes of Leadership.” In her book, “Finding Meaning with Charles: Caregiving with Love Through a Degenerative Disease,” Janet discusses how they sought to maintain a positive attitude throughout the duration of his illness.

Janet has over 30 years’ experience in the health promotion field. Her speaking experience has included keynotes and workshops for various caregiver and disease-oriented conferences. She is the immediate past chair of the Board of Directors for CurePSP.
