A webinar on the Physical Therapist’s Role in FTD Care will be held Thursday, November 18, 2021, beginning at 12:00 p.m. Eastern (9:00 a.m. Pacific). The 60-minute webinar, hosted by The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) will describe physical therapy (PT) and its role in managing FTD movement symptoms.

Erica Pitsch, PT, MPT, DPT, NCS, associate clinical professor at the University of California, San Francisco, will discuss specific benefits of PT for persons diagnosed with FTD. She also will share ways to access and use PT services.

Movement and physical activity are important parts of people’s daily lives. However, some people diagnosed with FTD have movement challenges that can decrease their independence and increase their chances of falling. A physical therapist may be able to promote safety to maximize independence and maintain physical activity.

Along with having practiced physical therapy for over 20 years, Pitsch has a Neurologic Specialist Certification (NCS) and specializes in working with those with neurologic disorders. She joined the faculty of the UCSF graduate program in physical therapy and rehabilitation science in 2011.

Regardless of specific diagnosis, her PT approach gives the person with a neurodegenerative disease and their care partners the knowledge, skills, and optimal challenge to be their own best therapist.

This event is part of the AFTD Educational Webinar series. Pre-registration is required.
